DINING SERVICES
Dining services at the Wayne County Nursing Home and Rehab Center are
designed to be as close to a "home cooking" experience
as possible – maybe better! In keeping with the Household Model,
the old "hospital
style" style of serving meals on trays from large carts was
eliminated, and residents now take their meals in the bright, beautifully
decorated dining rooms of their households.
Meals are served in a restaurant style. Each dining room has a full kitchen
area, with warming trays. Fresh bread is made on each unit, to increase
the appetite with that wonderful aroma!
Residents select what they want to eat at the meal. They can choose off
the standard menu, or they can request special items. If a resident is
unable to make the choice, we work with the family and provide meals based
on their preferences. Residents can also decide when they would like to
eat during the dining hours – sometimes you're not always hungry when everyone
else is!
A 5-week menu cycle is provided for breakfast, lunch, and supper. We also
provide a 5-week snack menu for after supper.
Residents eat their meals in the dining room most of the time, but if a
resident chooses, a tray can be brought to his or her room. We also provide
a variety of food supplies on the floors, so residents can get them anytime
they desire.
Private family dining rooms provide a place where the residents can have
their families come, to have a private meal. Because we have a home setting,
any family can bring food in and cook it with their resident family member,
for a special occasion, or just a family get-together.
Monthly specials include a Mothers Day Buffet, Fathers Day BBQ, & the
Fourth of July Picnic, to name just a few. The residents choose the menu
they want to have served at these special functions. One of our most popular
services is our monthly made-to-order omelet station, complete with chef
service!
Like any home, we plan together to make dining at WCNH a great experience,
through our monthly resident and staff Food Committee meeting, to discuss
any problems, or ideas on how to make food and nutrition at WCNH exceptional.
