2009 Week Of Hope Campers
For six weeks from June to July the Week of Hope campers brought 1,080 hours of service to the Wayne County Nursing Home & Rehab center this summer.
Three hundred six Hours were spent doing activities with residents such as outside games on the patios, one to one visits, sharing lunch, doing crafts, walks and outing to Sodus Point.
Needed tasks were accomplished by forty five campers such as washing inside & out approxi.216 windows, weeded and mulched around the facility and planted annuals, washed wheel chairs, walkers and dining rooms chairs, sorted equipment and drove discarded items to Salvation Army, cleaned pavilion and picnic tables, painted fences, filled bird feeders, washed all the buses inside and out, prepared registration packets and many other miscellaneous tasks too numerous to mention. All these tasks were performed with smiles and willingness to serve voluntarily. These campers are part of the Group Work Camps Foundation they came from Michigan, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia and New York.
We are grateful and pleased to be one of their work sites; the residents enjoyed the interaction and the cleaned windows to look out and enjoyed the natural surrounding on their Nye Road campus in Lyons.
