The Wayne County Nursing Home Foundation, Inc.
In October, 2003 a project to
establish a Foundation for the Nursing Home finally started taking shape
with the assistance of the Director of the Monroe Community Hospital
Foundation. In July, 2004 the NYS Public Health Council approved the
Certificate of Incorporation, Bylaws, etc. The Certificate of Incorporation
was filed in September and on November 17, 2004 an application for 501(c
)3. status was filed.
The IRS approved the application and contributions to the Foundation are
tax deductible. The Foundation is registered with the State Charities Board.
The Foundation was established to provide funding for Nursing Home services
and programs, equipment and capital projects not being funded by traditional
sources (such as the County and State) to provide public relations assistance,
to enhance the image of the Wayne County Nursing Home, to secure grants and
to provide supplemental funding for the development and implementation of
new programs.
The Foundation works closely with the Nursing Home to develop proposals
for funding. The mutual goal is to enhance the lives of the residents.
One of the project ideas is to create a small playground for visitors' children at the new Nursing Home. This would encourage visitors to bring small children to visit and perhaps enable family members with small children to visit more frequently.
donations be used for trees, flowers and landscaping. Donations without restrictions can be used in accordance with the above stated purposes of the Foundation. Donations made to the Foundation are tax deductible. The Foundation does accept donations of equipment such as electric lift recliners.
It is important to note that donations to the Foundation DO NOT go to the County nor do they pay for County expenses.
The Board of Directors of the Foundation would like to establish an Endowment Fund. This will involve a grant application for matching funds and a public appeal.
Current 2005 Board members are: Rita B. Otterbein, Sergei Bartishevich, Duane Fisher, Susie Crothers Earl, Nadine Brill and Gary McLouth.
