Q. How do I get into the Wayne County Nursing Home?
A. Requirements for admission include:

  • Need for nursing care or rehabilitation
  • PRI (Patient Review Instrument) assessment
  • Medical information
  • Application for admission
  • Verification of payment source
  • Residency in Wayne County is not required

Q. Is there a waiting list?
A. Yes, for long term care, but we are usually able to accommodate Rehabilitation admissions within a few days.

Q. How many beds do you have?
A. There are 4 "units" with a total of 192 beds:

  • 22 short-term rehabilitation beds
  • 2 short stay/respite beds
  • 168 long term beds

Q. How do I pay for nursing home care?
A. Medicare and private insurance may cover short term or rehab stays following a qualifying hospital stay. We also accept long-term care insurance, self-paying applicants, and Medicaid paid stays.

Q. What is your daily rate?
A. As of February 2011:

  • $310 for a semi-private room
  • $320 for a private room.

Q. What is your staff to resident ratio?
A. We provide 24 hour nursing care and are staffed above the New York State and national averages. Our mandatory staffing policies ensure all residents receive the care they need. Visit the Nursing Home Compare site on the Internet at www.medicare.gov for more information.

Q. What services do you offer?

Q. What about end of life care?
A. Hospice services are available to terminally ill residents and their families. Services are provided in collaboration with Lifetime Care and usually paid for by Medicare.

Q. Can I take a tour of the facility?
A. Tours are welcome between the hours of 10 and 4, Monday through Friday. Please call the Admission Coordinator at 315-946-5673 for an appointment.

Who is responsible for resident laundry?
The housekeeping/service department is responsible for resident laundry and oversee a contracted linen service.
